The First Solo: A Star Wars Trailer Premiered At The Super Bowl, Watch It Now

We have been waiting for what feels like forever for the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. We first thought it was coming in early December, but then it didn't. Then we thought it was going to be attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it wasn't. Apparently it took the Super Bowl to finally bring the film out of hiding, as we now have our first ever look at the film.

We've heard that the first full-length trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story will be debuting tomorrow morning, but our first actual look at the movie is now here. In it, the face of Alden Ehrenreich is hidden for the most part, and even when it is revealed it is a touch obscured. That said, the trailer does give us some impressive first looks at many important members of the supporting cast.

For example, here is our first peek at Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian - picking up the mantle from the great Billy Dee Williams (and wearing an awesome fur jacket in lieu of a kick ass space cape):

And then there is Tobias Beckett, who is Han Solo's mentor, being played by the brilliant Woody Harrelson:

The first Solo: A Star Wars Story teaser trailer is surprisingly light when it comes to Chewbacca footage (we may get more of that tomorrow), but at the very least we do get this parting shot of the two best buds with their backs to the camera at the end of the preview:

We have a few hours to wait until more of Solo: A Star Wars Story is revealed, but until then... what do you make of this first look? How Triple Frontiers Action Scenes Differ From The Norm, According To Ben Affleck

When considering a film like Netflixs latest action drama Triple Frontier, you can begin to form a picture of what youd expect the film to do pretty easily. But believe it or not, writer/director J.C. Chandors film defies expectations, as its both a riveting character study as well as a vehicle for kick-ass action. And its the line between the two that makes this film's more active scenes really sing, as Ben Affleck explained to CinemaBlend in an interview during the films press day. Afflecks thoughts were as follows:

One of the nice things about J.C. [Chandor], in his directing, is that its always really based in sort of the characters and what they would do. So it never felt to me like it veered into experiences Ive had where it became really compartmentalized, just about where youre holding the gun and wheres the explosion and stuff. He managed to do, I thought, really gripping, compelling kinds of action scenes out of stuff where youre always rooted in what the characters thinking, what they want to do, what their conflict is. That was really a new way of doing it for me, and I really liked it.

Ben Affleck is certainly no stranger to action, as his career has taken him through several stunt-laden films; most recently seeing him as the DCEUs former Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. So hearing his take on how the action of Triple Frontier differs from that of a big budget comic book movie is quite enlightening.

In particular, Ben Afflecks response has the potential to really make the audience think about what theyre watching in Triple Frontier. When one would expect merely an adrenaline soaked action explosion, what results is a film that bursts with action but then turns the flame down to a slow burn, reveling in the fallout. So naturally, the action and the drama need to blend well together, and in order to really do that, there has to be a common thread.

That thread is the characters purpose, something that Triple Frontier never loses sight of. So to have action scenes that root each actor within their characters purpose at all times really binds the film as tightly as the actors did during the filming process. The result is a film that takes on a satisfying amount of depth when telling its story.

Listening to Ben Affleck talk about how the action in J.C. Chandors Netflix blockbuster differs from that of a stock action film is pretty damned exciting. As you can see in the video below, discussing Chandors approach to the material appeals to not only his skills as an actor, but also that of a fellow writer/director. The resulting discussion is nothing short of impressive:

Action films obviously dont need to lack drama to work, and drama films can also have enough action in them in order to keep things exciting. Thats the attitude of Triple Frontier and all involved, and the film is a rewarding experience because of it. Bill Murray Is Down To Return For The New Ghostbusters Movie

For a long time, the lack of interest from Bill Murray was one of the impediments to a continuation of the beloved Ghostbusters franchise actually happening, before the actor finally relented and had a cameo in the 2016 reboot of the property. But with a secretive new movie set in the continuity of the first two Ghostbusters films on the way, we are again left to wonder if Murrays Dr. Peter Venkman will return. Addressing why he came back for the reboot, Bill Murray provided some hope on the matter when he said:

I was in that movie just because they asked me, and I knew if I said no, I was saying I didnt support that movie. I felt like, OK, Im going to support them because I support them as people. So I did that one and I would do this next one.

Bill Murrays friendship with fellow SNL alums Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy is what compelled him to finally return to the Ghostbusters franchise. He wanted to support his friends and the biggest support and vote of confidence he could give them was to be in the Ghostbusters reboot when he was asked. Yet, even though the new Ghostbusters movie will not feature those actors, Bill Murray is still down to return, as he told IndieWire at the Cannes Film Festival.

You hear that Jason Reitman? Thats the sound of legions of Ghostbusters fans telling you to pick up the phone and call Bill Murray. The actor broke the seal with his appearance in Paul Feigs reboot and isnt as staunchly against participating in the franchise as he once was. On the contrary, he seems quite open to the possibility of returning for the secretive continuation of the series from original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitmans son Jason.

Its an encouraging response because Bill Murray could have easily just said that he wasnt interested or equivocated on the topic, but instead he said quite plainly that he would be willing to do the next Ghostbusters movie. Maybe all he needs is to be asked and to see a good script.

Despite Bill Murrays aversion to working with Sony and in big Hollywood studio movies, likely contributors to his longstanding reticence to return, he still has great affection for the Ghostbusters franchise, as he explained:

This franchise paid for my sons college. We made this thing. We are the caretakers of it. Its a great thing and it was a really fun movie to make. Its a real movie with some really funny stuff in it.

Bill Murray knows how important Ghostbusters was to his career and its something that he had a good time making. He also has an appreciation for the enduring nature of the franchise and how important it is to people. The actor also seems to feel some responsibility as a steward of the franchise to take care of it and perhaps that is part of why he has no problem returning for this new movie.

Bill Murray isnt the only one of the original Ghostbusters willing to be a part of the 2020 film either. Although Harold Ramis sadly passed away in 2014, both Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson have expressed excitement about the new film and presumably a willingness to participate.

Well have to wait and see if any of the original Ghostbusters do return. If they do, theyll be joined by the new actors who have already been cast, including McKenna Grace, Carrie Coon and hitting for a nostalgia trifecta, Stranger Things and IT actor Finn Wolfhard.

Plot details are nonexistent at this point, but this new, untitled Ghostbusters movie will be set in the same continuity as the original 80s movies. So heres hoping that Bill Murray and the rest of the OG team return in some capacity for a movie that comes as close as possible to the untouchable original.
